Glamping? Gorgeous camping, now that's more my style. A getaway to Savage River Lodge was a mere 3-hrs outside the DC area. As you approach the property you enjoy a beautiful picturesque drive up to the lodge. I stayed at Savage River in October when the leaves were changing, gorgeous views! The Lodge offers a cabin or Yurt stay. I stayed in Yurt #8. There are four Yurts to the right of the driveway and four other a few feet up on the left side.
Once you arrive, you can go directly to your Yurt--no need to check-in at the lodge. Each group of Yurts has a parking space available [included in your stay]. You will receive an email the evening before with your Yurt number and details of your stay. The outside of the Yurt is plain and simple but as soon as you open the door to your Yurt your jaw will drop in amazement. As the Lodge says, good things come in round packages!
The Yurt is very spacious, luxurious, beautiful, and spotless! The floor boards are heated and there's a gas stove, so cozy during the fall and winter months. There's no television, this is a relaxing getaway--disconnect! The restaurant is located at the Lodge which is a short 3-minute walk up the road. Currently with the pandemic the lodge is only allowing Room Service, there is no dining at the restaurant. This can change, safety of the guests is their number one priority.
There are plenty of hiking trails from moderate to strenuous levels. Choose your hike. In the evening, weather permitting, a blazing bonfire burns close to the lodge. Great way to stay warm on a nice crisp evening and the perfect way to unwind after a long hike.
The perfect getaway for you and yours or if you have a few couples who are ready to getaway on a road trip, let Gurvy Travel get you glamping!
