The island’s original large-scale resort is responsible for kicking off the popularity of Provo. However, there is no denying that this resort now shows its age in the desultory palm-studded grounds and exterior plants. The grounds feature plenty of hammocks—a nice touch, but the square pool complex by the beach is small and gets crowded in peak season, although it has plenty of comfy loungers. The GOs—entertainment staff—patrol, offering free fruit plates and shaved ices. Accommodations are in a series of connected horseshoe buildings with two-story units that flank the public areas and run parallel to the pearly beach. A perfect harmony of terrazzo floors, peachy walls, and two twin or one king bed with quality soft goods striped in tropical fruit pastels, bring a smile to the face upon entry. They are still rather basic with only simple furnishings that show a bit of wear. Deluxe rooms offer a few extra amenities such as turndown service, robes, slippers, branded toiletry kits (often Keiji products), welcome gifts and stocked refrigerators with drinks. Garden-view club rooms and ocean-view deluxe rooms are otherwise identical. No children are allowed.
